Artificial intelligence. We all know what it is, but do we? That’s what Brandon Johnson, Solutions Architect at Nvidia, talked to us about. In today’s increasingly technological world, artificial intelligence is becoming an extremely hot commodity that Brandon thinks companies need to embrace and apply to their systems. Brandon got his Bachelor’s Degree from North Carolina State University in Sustainable Materials and Technology, and his Master of Science in Computer and Information Science from Northeastern University. With these accolades, Brandon works to collaborate with companies on how to best and most effectively integrate artificial intelligence into their future.
So, what exactly is artificial intelligence? Artificial intelligence encompasses all of the ways that technology has been adapted to mimic humans. This includes everything from Siri in Apple products to facial recognition on Facebook to technology that has been able to replace some human jobs. What Brandon really wanted to resonate with us is that artificial intelligence is not just limited to robotics, as many of us probably thought. It’s the obvious association. However, artificial intelligence is much more than that. Most often we run into algorithms, such as Facebook’s facial recognition feature. Algorithms are used so often in today’s world because of their ability to self-learn, which makes data so much more accurate than it was before. In all aspects of STEM careers, accurate and complete data is maybe the most important foundation you can have.
